We work with groundbreaking technologies like Dolby Atmos and DTS:X that help revolutionize how you perceive sound in movies. These immersive audio fomats broke traditional boundaries, elevating storytelling through multidimension soundscapes that capture audiences like never before.
Inspired by this audio revolution, Immersive Installs was born with a passion for bringing the magic of Dolby Atmos and DTS:X to homes across the Bay Area.
About the Owner, Robert May
Robert May launched Immersive Installs to share his passion for immersive audio and home entertainment with like-minded enthusiasts throughout the Bay Area. By age 15, Robert developed a passion for Hi-Fi audio, devoutly reading magazines like Stereophile and Home Theater and frequently visiting listening rooms at high-end audio retailers. Over the years, Robert mixed and matched audiophile components in search of the ultimate audio experience. During this time, he developed relationships with several integrators and builders that helped him to actualize his dream theater. These invaluable partners now work for Immersive Installs, bringing 40 years of combined experience.
In early 2024, Robert became a THX Certified Professional in order to learn and incorporate the design principles of the most trusted brand in theater excellence. As a THX Certified Professional, Robert is trained to implement theater systems that replicate an experience just as it was created in the recording studios.

Lifestyle
Your lifestyle measures considerably into consideration for several vital reasons. Do you listen only to classical music, or is electronic music more your jam? Will you use your surround system primarily for movies, or is critical music listening more important? Do you play first-person shooters on the latest-gen video game console? Do you have little ones on the loose who may damage your new speakers? Once we have a clear picture of your lifestyle, we will recommend components and placements that consider each of these factors.
Investment
Once we know your budget, we will recommend the best possible components and placement to ensure you get the most bang for your buck. We attend industry expos and listening rooms and read industry magazines, so you don’t have to worry about the research. Furthermore, we relish the challenge of obtaining the best possible performance from reasonably priced components. Take the analogy of a bottle of wine. Sure, you can spend $500 on a bottle of cabernet that you would expect to taste great. However, you can purchase a $30 bottle that is nearly as good. For those with big aspirations but limited budgets, I suggest taking a phased approach that begins with a basic system that we will upgrade in the future as budget permits.
Aesthetics
Your new entertainment system will become a prominent feature in your home for years. Why shouldn’t you give as much consideration to the aesthetics of your speakers and entertainment cabinet as you give to your home’s furniture? Are you looking for something bold or something more refined? Do you want your speakers displayed prominently (industrial design) or remain entirely out of sight?
Room
The size and layout of your room(s) significantly affect my recommended components. Larger rooms can benefit from larger speaker cabinets and more robust amplification. Do you want to provide a whole-home audio experience for your friends and family? Wireless solutions from Sonos or BlueSound enable you to play music throughout multiple rooms.
None of this is possible without a solid network in place. We’ll ensure that your internet service, ethernet network, and wifi can support the latest audio and video formats
I found him to be personable, extremely knowledgeable and easy to work with. We settled on Silver 300, 7G, floor standing speakers and one Yamaha A-S1200 integrated amplifier. They were used in conjunction with a Pioneer CD player PDRW739. All deliver outstanding sound with listening to CDs and LPs a sheer joy! Thank you Robert for your expertise!
I hadn’t updated TV, music, news etc. in almost 20 years. I no longer spoke that tech language. I didn’t know what I didn’t know. Robert guided me from an old plug in TV with a cable attached, to state of the art TV with all the apps, news, and music throughout my house. He listened and created a magnificent home theater.
